Track 1 Session 7
1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday March 27, 2008

Combined Test Specifications for Automotive Products Based on Measured Vehicle Data and Product Service Feedback

Extensive warranties proposed by the automotive manufacturer lead the automotive supplier to develop new test specifications. These specifications should validate the durability and the design life requirement. This session will present an original combined test method. Three main stresses are simultaneously considered:

- temperature
- pressure pulsation
- vibration

The stress levels and the test duration are defined knowing the vehicle duty cycle and measured vehicle data. The definition of the pressure pulsation test specification will be detailed. The test level is determined using an accelerated law and Miner's rule. Secondly, the validation of the method will be presented based on product service feedback.

Key Words: Reliability Testing, Reliability of Automotive Components, Accelerated Testing, Cumulative Damage, Combined Solicitations, Customer Usage Knowledge
